Tetraethylenepentamine, also known as tritetraethylenediamine, abbreviated as TEPA, is a yellow or orange-red viscous liquid. Easily soluble in water, ethanol and most organic solvents, insoluble in benzene and ether。It easily absorbs water and carbon dioxide in the air. Alkaline. It is obtained by thermal amination and ammonolysis reaction between dichloroethane and ammonia, neutralizing with alkali and then distilling under reduced pressure. Used as gas chromatography stationary solution for selective retention and Chemicalbook separation of alcohols, amines, pyridine, quinoline, piperazine, thiols and water. Used in anion exchange resins, lubricating oil additives, fuel oil additives, and also used as epoxy resin curing agents, rubber vulcanization accelerators, etc.
Purpose
:Tetraethylene pentamine can be used for complex titration of copper, zinc and nickel by current endpoint method, saponification of acidic substances, synthetic rubber and resin gas purification and dehydration agent. Also used as additives, curing agents, accelerators, etc.
Production method:
This product is a co-product of ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, and polyethylenepolyamine. For production principles and operations, please refer to ethylenediamine. However, the temperature of the ammonolysis reaction needs to be 160 to 250°C, and the pressure should be above 4.0MPa. Distill the crude polyamine product under reduced pressure, collect the fractions at 160-210°C under a pressure of 1.3kPa, and obtain the finished product Chemicalbook of tetraethylpentamine after cooling. Refining method: Dehydrate with metallic sodium or anhydrous calcium sulfate and then fractionate under reduced pressure. You can also dissolve 150g of tetraethylenepentamine in 300mL of 95% ethanol, and gradually drop in 180mL of concentrated hydrochloric acid while cooling, keeping the temperature below 20°C. Filter out the white precipitate, recrystallize it three times with a mixture of ethanol and water, wash with ether, and dry under vacuum to obtain pure tetraethylenepentamine hydrochloride.
