Insoluble in water and ether, soluble in alcohol and most organic solvents. When exposed to light or air, it quickly turns brown and has an aniline smell.
Usage:
This product is used in organic synthesis and is an important intermediate for azo dyes and triphenylmethane dyes; it can also be used as an intermediate for fine chemicals such as rubber additives, explosives, and photographic materials.
Production method
1. Hydrochloric acid method: react aniline hydrochloride and ethanol at 180°C and 2.94MPa, distill out excess ethanol and by-product ether, then add 30% NaOH and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride, and remove Chemicalbook by-products by steam distillation diethylaniline, and then add sulfuric acid to obtain the product. 2. Phosphorus trichloride method: react aniline, ethanol and phosphorus trichloride at 300°C and 9.84MPa, and fractionate the reaction mixture by vacuum distillation to obtain N-ethylaniline.
