Physical and chemical properties
N-Ethylmorpholine is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a viscosity (23°C) of 2.3mPa.s, a relative density of 0.916, a refractive index (23°C) of 1.4415, a boiling point of 138~139°C, and a freezing point of -60 ~-63℃, flash point (TCC) is 32℃, vapor pressure (20℃) is 813Pa. Soluble in water, Pka=7.8.
Product purity ≧98% or ≧99%, moisture ≦0.5
Characteristics and uses
It can be used as a catalyst in the PU field and has less odor than NMM. N-ethylmorpholine is often used as a solvent for oils and resins, and can also be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. At present, some companies such as Air Products and Momentive seem to no longer supply this product.
N-ethylmorpholine and N-methylmorpholine are medium-strength tertiary amine catalysts, especially suitable for the production of polyester-type flexible polyurethane foams with good skin formation performance. N-ethylmorpholine can still have a strong catalytic effect on the gel reaction after the foam rises to the highest point, expanding the cells to the maximum extent. Moreover, the foaming reaction and gelation reaction rates will not change significantly due to different catalyst concentrations, but the disadvantage is a strong odor.
