diethylmethylbenzamide is a broad-spectrum insect repellent that repels a variety of biting insects in various environments. It can repel spiny flies, midges, black flies, chiggers, deer flies, fleas, gnats, horse flies, Mosquitoes, sand flies, gnats, stable flies and ticks.
Chemical Properties
Colorless to amber liquid. Has a light citrus scent. Virtually insoluble in water, but miscible with ethanol, 2-propanol, propylene glycol and cottonseed oil. The meta-isomer content of industrial products is 85 to 95%, d24 is 0.996 to 0.998, and the viscosity at 30°C is 13.Chemicalbook 3 centipoise. The acute oral LD50 value of male white rats is about 2000mg/kg; feeding rats with feed containing 1% DEET for 200 days has no adverse effects; the undiluted compound can irritate mucous membranes, but use repellent concentration of DEET on your face and face every day On arms, causes only mild irritation.
Purpose:

Production method:
Obtained from the reaction of m-toluoyl chloride and diethylamine. Industrial products contain 5%-15% isomers.
