On the evening of November 30th, the container ship ONE APUS had a container overboard near the Pacific Northwest of Hawaii.
The ship encountered severe weather on its way from Yantian, China to Long Beach, USA, which caused the hull to shake violently and the container stacks collapsed and fell into the sea.
Yesterday, Maritime Bulletin pointed out that the number of falling water containers is as many as 50, and said that the specific number may be more, and it has to wait for follow-up confirmation.
Unexpectedly, the latest accident report pointed out that the number of damaged or dropped containers on “ONE APUS” is as high as 1,900! About 40 of them are containers with dangerous goods!
ONE has established a special website for this accident so that everyone can keep up to date: https://www.one-apus-container-incident.com/
The freight forwarders who have loaded the ship need to get the latest information quickly.
In this accident, regardless of whether your container is damaged or lost, you may have to bear the final calculated general average.
